Plate - Tenkei Akae - Banreki Shishi
Sehyo-kiln
Established in 1924
The most important thing for Sehyo-kiln is harmony with nature.
The grayish porcelain surface has black spots and a rough texture that can be seen in places. This is due to the fact that the clay is fired without refining, leaving the iron and sand in the clay. Sehyo-kiln's characteristic is to make use of natural materials to create products with a natural texture.

Tenkei-Akae (Red painted porcelain) was produced during the Tenkei period in the late Ming dynasty. This porcelain was loved by tea masters in Japan and had a great influence on the Japanese style.
Sehyo-Kiln produces with the hope of passing on its charms to the modern age. Since there are only a few kilns producing the Akae porcelain today, this is a rare and valuable piece of porcelain.
